Many years in the making, the Mall on Duval finally came to fruition this weekend with an opening ceremony on Friday February 15th, with speeches by Mayor Teri Johnston and City Commissioner Jimmy Weekley, followed by a ribbon cutting and the official opening of the promenade that is hoped to become a regular feature of weekend Duval nightlife.
The promenade runs the 500 through 700 blocks of Duval, and is being piloted for 12 weeks, and may be expanded to additional sections of downtown if enough interest and demand grows.
